In my naturopathy practice, I invariably say if there’s only one thing you’re prepared to change in your dietary habits, eat more vegetables and fruits. Raw or lightly steamed vegetables is most healthful, organic produce is even healthier, and fruits and vegetables that are organic and locally grown is the ultimate. So if you have a farmer’s market nearby, definitely obtain your vegetables and fruits there. While you’re at it be generous about it. Get more produce than you reckon you’ll eat.

Another good health tip is to stock your pantry and fridge with nutritive anti-oxidant foods and condiments. Have them on hand and use them liberally in your cooking. Some of these anti-oxidant foods are marvellous as snack food. The family of these anti-oxidant foods have sizable wellness goodness. I like to tell those I consult with, they will literally add years to your life.

My other advice to those who want to be healthier is hydration. Have 3 – 4 quarts of water every day. You can have unsweetened herb tea but never count artificially colored. For every single serving of alcohol and also for every cup of coffee, drink an extra 8 oz of water to facilitate your kidney process these beverages. A daily glass of wine is surely wholesome, but you should keep in mind that alcohol dehydrates the blood and thereby your organ systems.

I also recommend a periodic body detox to cleanse your body of accumulated toxins from diet, air, water and the environment.
