Although the officials have stated that he has died of suffocating on his own vomit, this raises questions if another illness is the real cause that lead to his death on Saturday (10th October of 2009).
The official version states that the star died of “pulmonary oedema”, a condition which causes fluid (water) in the lungs, which is just another way of saying that he died, because his lungs could not any air, and then his body and brain were not supplied by oxygen any more.
A few other young men and sports people have died suddenly although there were basically healthy. Sometimes the cause for this is a unknown heart failure, or an infection in the heart’s muscle that stems from an badly cured flu, general weakness of the body, or maybe an earlier disease that is still dormant in the body.
Of course with a young and seemingly healthy pop star (that probably know how to party in his lifetime) questions arouse if not maybe drugs and alcohol in addictive amounts were part of the accident. Everybody who drinks alcohol or takes drugs will know that to suffocate on your own vomit, the intoxication must be very, very strong. The person must have been so much unconscious that even vomiting and beginning to suffocate does not bring them back to. Other people who have died like that include Elvis Presley, Heith Ledger, Marilyn Monroe, Anna Nicole Smith and many many not famour people.

As Stephen Gately was homo sexual, there will also be questions if he might have carried the HIV virus (which could weaken his body and open it up for dangerous infections) or if he even has already has AIDS.
