Skiers can expect ski holidays to cost upwards of 11 per cent more for skiing vacations this season as chalet operators slash the amount of ski trips available.

Peak season dates will be particularly dear but even at additional times there will surely be less big reductions on ski holidays.

Ski industry insiders say that with ski operators cropping capacity by up to 26 per cent holiday prices remain unlikely to be reduced.

Inquiries are already beyond the supply for half term which for the 2nd yr will fall on the same week for most schools in England and Wales.

Price rises along with a slashing in the no. of trips comes after a particularly fine ski season for holiday makers with heavy snowfalls all over the Alps.

The fall of the pound sterling versus the euro wiped out margins of profit and led to several small providers in debt.

Next season already looks brighter for skiers able to vacation in Jan and March, when prices for ski holidays France will be up by on average 18 percent on the average, in place of 35 percent for peak-season dates.

Airline businesses, chalets and lift companies are beginning to realise that they provide travel firms discounts or special offers. Organised snowboarders will purchase as many essential extras ” such as lift passes and equipment rental ” in sterling ahead of leaving England.
